images of a weekend

it's finals week over here, which just means that we have been more whiney than usual. i wish i could say more busy... but, that's just not how we roll. i have effectively put off writing my final 8 page paper until the last possible second. it's due at midnight and i haven't even created the word document. if i could pass the class without doing it, scraping by with a d-... I would.
if my future children are reading this, i want you to simply acknowledge this as proof that everybody slacks sometimes. it's okay, but it must be fought. rest assured that i am otherwise a good student. (right, husband and mother?? right?!)
after this grueling week, in approximately two more days, we head off to Moab for the weekend. i am naturally beyond thrilled at the prospect! warm weather, good food, swimming, hiking and hanging with my sisters. i look forward to this weekend each year. (even if the local run-down hotels triple their prices, ensuring that we spend the same amount staying at the sleep inn as we did staying at caeser's palace on our honeymoon.)
in other news, ginny had all of her shots (3!) and a haircut by an unfamiliar groomer yesterday. it was pretty traumatic for her, and she has been paying us back since i picked her up after her cut. mostly, she acts like she is in pain and wont play with us or use the bathroom (#2). she knows how to make her mama worry. but it is only day two.. and i suspect that within the next few days, and especially when we are in Moab she will perk up.
it has also been crazy hot here the last two days. we reached 90 yesterday and had to turn on our AC. i am not fond of hot, hot heat. i prefer a good 80 degrees. like when i lived at the grand canyon for the summer-- absolutely perfect weather. but i would definitely take 90 over 30. so there we are.
i will likely not post again until next week.. you know, due to my studies.
have a lovely week, wherever you are! (hopefully not finals for you-oi.)

I can't decide which way she is cuter. obviously, she is prettier
all cleaned up-- but with her fluffy/chunky look she is to me so much more ginny! your thoughts?

love after love

The time will come when, with elation,
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror,
and each will smile at the other's welcome,
and say
sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger
who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread.
Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you all your life...

Take down the love
letters from the bookshelf,
the photographs,
the desperate notes, peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit.
Feast on your life.
