Thursday

just lately

i have realized that the only way for me to be motivated to keep up with my posting is to keep in mind my ultimate plan to make sheknewjoy into a journal book. i want my children to have these memories, and i want to have pages to flip back through of these years of my/our life. and i know that the writing and the photos are both more poignant if they are created in real time. so, with all that said, i am back on regular posting.. for the children's sake!!

here are a few photos of lately. we have really been enjoying the cool weather! i don't know why, but this summer got to me. it was very hot. i didn't go outside that often, which makes me utterly sad. i was so tired of sweaty underarms and hair sticking to my neck. but now! the air is crisp, the nights are cold. more than once seth has come home shivering, asking why i have all the windows open. freeze out? i just say that my core temperature is still steamy and i like the fresh air. it seems much cleaner. well i used to be a summer freak- and i think i'm switching over to fall. blast! one more way i'm like my mother, i suppose. that seems to happen increasingly over the years..

alas, i digress. these photos are from the last month or so when i abandoned my little blog. the need to knows about our life right now are:
1. school, school school. i have 3 semesters left. technically 2, since i'll start student teaching the third. seth is starting his 2nd semester.. still pre-engineering with plans to move to salt lake after next summer.
2. we're very excited for the holidays. it's gin's first birthday! you know i'm going all out.
3. i might be starting as an Avon rep soon. we'll see if it pans out. extra money is always nice!
4. seth celebrated his 27th birthday last month. i will probably need to do a little birthday lovin post! whoops.
5. i have a cold today. yuck!

so.. enjoy:

snoozy on the couch last night

my summer flowers- still going strong. i wonder if they'll grow back next year? i grew these from seeds! such a feeling. i am very attached to them.

this beautiful girl celebrated her 15th birthday last week. not. cool. i need my babies (my sisters) to stay little! plus she looks so mature in this photo, right?

falllllll! like i said, we are obsessed. we went on a little hike a few days ago up to where we had our second proposal. (in my heart, the *real* one.)

i'm a red head at the mo'.

i just had to throw this in because it's so perfect. i know, it's kind of gross how much i love her. what do you want from me!?

our porch being all festive.

...and the rest of our house too. the next 5 or 10 photos are of our halloween decor inside. perhaps this may be boring to you. if so, skip.

love after love

The time will come when, with elation,
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror,
and each will smile at the other's welcome,
and say
sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger
who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread.
Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you all your life...

Take down the love
letters from the bookshelf,
the photographs,
the desperate notes, peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit.
Feast on your life.
