Tuesday

to my dad

it was this guys birthday last week. (also fathers day! it's always a double whammy for him) the twenty bucks and cheesy card we gave him don't even come close to showing our appreciation for everything he does. he is hard working, generous and really, really funny. you will never meet anybody with a bigger heart than my dad. aside from raising four daughters, he has provided for our family without fail, been there whenever anybody needs anything fixed, and always offers an open ear. i don't think he hears enough what a good man he is. so here's to you dad, you rock. everybody who didn't get you as their father is seriously missing out.

love after love

The time will come when, with elation,
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror,
and each will smile at the other's welcome,
and say
sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger
who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread.
Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you all your life...

Take down the love
letters from the bookshelf,
the photographs,
the desperate notes, peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit.
Feast on your life.
