Tuesday

wait. they don't love you like i love you.

have you ever sat still and been very aware of your body? think of all that it does. elbows, fingers, facial muscles. think about eyelashes and ankle bones. we have such a gift. if i desired to, i could run and run and run. i could run across this country. i could jump in the ocean and swim until i was tired and then float. i take deep breaths and hear music. i can see the sun shine and my brain comprehends all of this. our bodies are out of this world. they give us our ability to experience living. we should take better care of them, not for any other reason than that we love them.

today my pup is visiting. he spent the night and is now curled up next to me.
i have laundry to do and then i'm going to take an hour or so just taking care of myself. bubble bath, new nail polish. i think i'll spend the couple hours before seth is home at the library. have a joyful day!

love after love

The time will come when, with elation,
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror,
and each will smile at the other's welcome,
and say
sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger
who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread.
Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you all your life...

Take down the love
letters from the bookshelf,
the photographs,
the desperate notes, peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit.
Feast on your life.
