Tuesday

It is such a lovely night.

As I drove to my parents house in anticipation of our departure to Lake Powell tomorrow (whew- nice sentence) I thought about how nice everything around me is.

The boy and is father driving behind me, laughing and goofing around. The child- must've been three or four- watering his front lawn with the hose while wearing a popcicle smile. The smell of warm grass and sprinklers. The seeds blowing through the dappled sunlight as I exited the freeway. The horses and their foals and their smells too. The fresh sound of happy birds. Children playing. Lawn mowers.

I realize how blessed I am. I can see, hear, feel, taste and most of all smell. (I love smelling!) (Things.. you know. What I meant.)

I am grateful.

And I love summer.

Dear Karlee,

I hope you didn't really think that post was serious.

Love,
Fish

love after love

The time will come when, with elation,
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror,
and each will smile at the other's welcome,
and say
sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger
who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread.
Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you all your life...

Take down the love
letters from the bookshelf,
the photographs,
the desperate notes, peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit.
Feast on your life.

~Derek Walcott

bring it on back
