Rebuild

One day as summer was in its final throes, I decided to redecorate our house.
Of course I enlisted the help of my trusty sidekicks, (who I truly owe so much to and am so thankful for! Dad, shay, brin, mom, Seth, rams! Gin too) and we painted, shopped, bargained, ksl-ed, contemplated colors, neglected ginny, taped everything, drove all over Utah, lost sleep, cried, fought, dropped heavy items and broke a wall, endured many injuries, ate a lot, showered too infrequently, rearranged, crammed furniture in, made plenty of returns, spent hours at lowes, did fifty bajillion coats, sanded till we wanted to die, inhaled much too much polyurethene, stayed up into the wee hours of the night, and so on!
Oh I will never forget it all. I have lovely furniture that means a lot to me. And I love most of my house now.
...bedrooms are next.
( and the bathroom still needs finish work. Shay?)

love after love

The time will come when, with elation,
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror,
and each will smile at the other's welcome,
and say
sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger
who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread.
Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you all your life...

Take down the love
letters from the bookshelf,
the photographs,
the desperate notes, peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit.
Feast on your life.
