procure.
i know a good piece of furniture when i see one. and i see most of them at places with price tags around $1000. well, if i'm going to spend that much you better know it will be on something harry potter or vacation or food related, and i'm much more interested in an old piece with character and charm- something that has been floating around since 1922 and has stories etched into the wood. (or particle board.. that's a different story.)
the problem i have faced is that the DIY road is scary and time consuming and can be expensive if you're uneducated. which i am. so i'm a little giddy over the kitchen table that we found online this weekend. it's from the 30's and has been passed through the family until a year ago when it was up for grabs at an estate sale in texas. the leaf has been secured permanently into the middle and fresh coating of paint added and wa la! good lines and quality wood make for a timeless piece. and somebody who knows how to handle these things has got a friend in me.now i'm on the hunt for chairs. i'd also like a rug. don't tell seth about my living room plans!
i'm going to attempt to refinish the dresser in our bedroom (nasty particle board mentioned above) and an entertainment center that we have procured. i'm sure you'll hear more about that.

notice that we aren't in our little sweetie studio anymore? we moved back to my hometown and are loving the space (we have an extra bedroom!) and my grandparents across the street. (thanks for the pliers, spare keys, yummy food and company.)
