Saturday

beside ourselves

well, what i'd really like to do right now is splatter color palettes, bridesmaid dresses, letterpress announcements, cake flavors and birdcage veils all over this empty box.
i've gotten to the point in planning where i get to fine tune all the small things, and it is unreal fun!
[figuring out the venue, the photographer, and the types of flowers isn't fun FYI.]
incidentally, i had a terrible dream last night wherein my photographer forgot to come until about an hour of the reception was left, we had nobody to announce our first dance so some drunk bystander did it, and i looked down to see myself wearing cheetah shoes with a cruela-deville-like dress.
i'm seriously worried that nobody will show up. we'll have a jazz band playing to empty air and a melting cake.
i guess at that point i'd grab my hubby, kick off my shoes and shimmy on the tables to my hearts content. but still.

the point of this post is to announce some of the details we have secured, like that we booked our mexican cruise honeymoon yesterday, and may have to now eat only saltines for roughly 2-3 weeks while we try to arrange our finances accordingly. but we're going to be basking in the sun on catalina island! worth it, no?
also, we have decided on dark gray suits with navy blue patterned ties, and various purple-y bridesmaids dresses.
did i already mention the new orleans style jazz band and the table full of beignets, berry skewers and ginger lemonade?
i've fallen absolutely in love with garden roses, hydrangeas and ranaculus...
we're busy making tulle and pearl accessories for the girls to wear, and i still have no idea what shoes i'm going to wear for 10 minutes and then take off.
oh!
we're re-doing our engagements next saturday. think vintage, crisp white and a few little props added in. i'm really excited about it. we actually put some thought into the backdrops and other little things that are special to us. plus, i colored my hair for the first time since.. the shave.. and that always makes pictures better in my opinion.
so all is well here on the wedding front. it's two months from today and i have a constant stream of invitations running through my mind. my dear fiance has been nothing but agreeable, except when it came to the flavor of the cake- surprise.

next post, apartment hunting!

I am nothing but thrilled and happy for you! Enjoy every single moment; you will always remember the wedding day, the honeymoon and the newlywed time. But for some reason, all this rushing around and hustling and bustling seems to get brushed off to the side in our memories. And this is the time that helps to form our relationships best. Enjoy it, love it, breathe it in. These are the final days of your (single people) courtship.

Can't wait!

aw! thank you so much cristina. i'm so bummed that we still haven't gotten together for some indian food. i never thought i would be this busy, it is insane.
but you're definitely right, we have grown so much closer while planning all of this, and having to use our resources and everything. i'm trying to write it all down and enjoy each moment! i hope everything is going well for you.

I'm so excited! Everything seems to be coming together so nicely! And I will definitely boogie to the jazz band even if people are sparse (which I doubt, everyone loves you!). Let me know if there is anything I can do to help, and get thinking about that Bridal Shower!

ah! no sparseness allowed. although, if you're there that's all i really need!
the bridal shower- such relief that you are still wanting to do that! i've not a single girl friend in the world, i swear.

just an idea- the store Rocket Rebellion on main in spanish fork has really cute vintage style shoes, you should go look there! Not sure what kind of shoes you are looking for but I think they would be worth looking at!

the wedding sounds beautiful!

love after love

The time will come when, with elation,
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror,
and each will smile at the other's welcome,
and say
sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger
who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread.
Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you all your life...

Take down the love
letters from the bookshelf,
the photographs,
the desperate notes, peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit.
Feast on your life.

~Derek Walcott

bring it on back
