Sunday

Litter.

Sometime ago, I drove past a boy walking on a grass median between two busy roads.
He looked real focused.
Out of nowhere, a paper or a discarded grocery bag or perhaps a wendy's bag tumbled into his path.
Know what he did?
He kicked it. He kicked it with such gusto you would think the litter had personally affronted him.
He looked real mad.

I laughed all the way to school.

I spent last weekend and this weekend at my family's house. I don't know.. I just needed a break. I needed a little cooping up.

And it was nice.

I'm having plastic surgery this week.
I have to spend the night in the hospital.
I'm afraid.
I hope I get my very own room.

ay ay ay.

love after love

The time will come when, with elation,
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror,
and each will smile at the other's welcome,
and say
sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger
who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread.
Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you all your life...

Take down the love
letters from the bookshelf,
the photographs,
the desperate notes, peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit.
Feast on your life.
