Wednesday

yesterday we rode our bikes

It began with a strange desire to work out. [Okay, not strange. I forgot I'm trying to be skinny now.]
Sister suggested we ride our new bikes that we got for Christmas.
[It was slightly warm out, after all.]
Same sister then excitedly told puppy that we were going on a bike ride and he couldn't come.
[Which of course made me mad.]
So then.. I wouldn't let her come.
[Which started quite the argument.]
Eventually, me and other sister and puppy got outside for our ride.
We bundled.
We asked, "do bike tires work the same on ice?"

2.7 miles should be easy two wheels.

Suffice it to say that it took an hour, my pinky finger might fall off from the leash getting wrapped around it as puppy tried to run the opposite way from which I was cycling, and perhaps sister was right in not wanting him to come.

But still, she didn't have to tease him about it.

you're such a fool. he knew we were going.. we BOTH said her couldn't come.

love after love

The time will come when, with elation,
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror,
and each will smile at the other's welcome,
and say
sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger
who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread.
Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you all your life...

Take down the love
letters from the bookshelf,
the photographs,
the desperate notes, peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit.
Feast on your life.
