Wednesday

Wednesday Art Inspiration

“When we go to Chicago and do hip-hop, the locals are astounded that we are from Utah. They’re like ‘Uh, Utah?"
-Utah choreographer Rick Robinson.

I have always loved the art of Dance. Rather than viewing each style of dance individually, I prefer to celebrate movement in general. There is a certain beauty in even the gait of a dancer. Of a human.
To me, dance is anything. Conversations. Watch the way people move when speaking to one another. The way we fight. The way we clean. The way we worry. The way we celebrate. There is a sway to it all, if you but watch. Each movement is an integral part of the total design.
The best part? We can all move.
This Wednesday I want to highlight the dance community in Utah.
And lucky me, this article says it all.

Now lets all.. do a little dance. In the name of movement.

love after love

The time will come when, with elation,
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror,
and each will smile at the other's welcome,
and say
sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger
who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread.
Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you all your life...

Take down the love
letters from the bookshelf,
the photographs,
the desperate notes, peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit.
Feast on your life.

~Derek Walcott
