Everything depends.

A few thoughts nesting in my brain this morning:

-The title of this post is quoted by a counselor at my work. He's new, I don't even know his name actually. But what does/could that mean? "Everything depends."
-I would love to name my blog "hand-picked curiosities," but I know that I stole that from somebody's writing somewhere. I can't remember. Is it stealing if it is only someone's descriptive writing? Probably.
-I am a vegetarian, but I am craving a juicy, tender steak right now. I am a vegetarian because of the devestating way that animals are treated, because it is healthier, more economic and more environment-friendly. But I will not claim that I don't have a taste for meat. I miss my steak. Who craves steak at 8:15 in the morning anyways?

In other news:
My sister Madisen turns 12 tomorrow. She loves giraffes. This is what I got her. (I'm hoping it will ship like, today.)

OrangeWillow, by artist Wendy Allegree might just be my new favorite art.

I really exercised some self control with this one:

Zebra's are my favorite.

I purchased the Giraffe at her Etsy Shop

And last, this:

Which I found at Snarlamama's Etsy Shop

hey wendy-- we received the print and she LOVEs it. thank you again!

love after love

The time will come when, with elation,
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror,
and each will smile at the other's welcome,
and say
sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger
who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread.
Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you all your life...

Take down the love
letters from the bookshelf,
the photographs,
the desperate notes, peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit.
Feast on your life.

~Derek Walcott
