Settle

We are easing into our new home. For sure, Ginny is having the hardest time. With every joy we find over the extra space or the fresh paint, she follows quickly behind, scowling. The soft pitter-patter of her feet is always at my heels as I organize and situate, and I sense her anxiety like it is a gray, whispy cloud circling her head. This morning she hid in our curtains while we got ready, knowing we'd be leaving her alone again in this foreign place.
She is afraid of her doggy door (moreso than the last one) and has yet to go out and explore her new back yard. When we have gone back to the duplex to get our last things or put new light bulbs in, we find her asleep, finally at home again in the corner of our bedroom.
Poor baby.
Aside from this, we are really enjoying our new place. I have the decorating bug now and not quite the budget for all my dreams. This makes me ornery. I foresee many craft days.. Come soon, weekend!

Well thank you mama!

love after love

The time will come when, with elation,
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror,
and each will smile at the other's welcome,
and say
sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger
who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread.
Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you all your life...

Take down the love
letters from the bookshelf,
the photographs,
the desperate notes, peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit.
Feast on your life.
